RICHMOND, Va., July 7, 2020 – OrthoVirginia announced that its board of directors has appointed John Phipps, MD, as the new Chief Executive Officer of the practice.
Dr. Phipps is an experienced physician executive and healthcare leader and has held various positions, including president of the Novant Health Medical Group. Most recently, he served as the system leader for care transformation at Inova Health System. He has over 20 years’ experience in clinical practice as an endocrinologist.
John Barnard, MD, President of the Board of Directors, has been serving as the Interim CEO since last fall. “We conducted an exhaustive national search and John’s vast experiences separated him immediately. His strengths are a unique blend of strategy, culture and physician perspective,” Barnard said. “We are looking forward to having John join the OrthoVirginia team as our new CEO.”
Dr. Phipps is eager for the new opportunity. “OrthoVirginia is an incredible organization with dedicated physicians and staff, as well as loyal patients. I’m honored to take this position as we continue to move forward to ensure that stronger starts here for all.”
Dr. Phipps started July 6 and is based in Richmond.
