Anterior Hip Replacement

Anterior Hip Replacement is a minimally invasive surgical approach to replace damaged bones in the hip joint with an artificial joint. Also known as a “total hip,” the anterior approach allows surgeons to remove and replace the hip while doing less damage to muscles and tendons nearby. This allows most patients to leave the hospital the same day and many report that they experience less post-operative pain as compared to the posterior approach.

Dr. Wood is one of a handful of surgeons at Ortho Virginia and in the Northern Virginia region who performs anterior hip replacements and has prior experience at a Level 1 trauma center.
