Dr. Meghan Richardson is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine injuries and procedures of the shoulder and knee. Her passion is providing comprehensive, personalized care to help her patients recover after an injury using both surgical and non-surgical methods. Whether patients are weekend warriors or collegiate athletes, Dr. Richardson is committed to providing state of the art care to get her patients back to their performance goals as soon as possible.
Prior to joining OrthoVirginia, she completed her Orthopedic Surgery residency at the State University of New York Stony Brook. She continued her training with a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the University of North Carolina, focusing on advanced arthroscopic techniques for knee and shoulder injuries to provide minimally invasive options for her patients. Dr. Richardson also has extensive experience as a team physician for several Division 1 sports, including North Carolina State University Football, North Carolina State Women’s Basketball, and State University of New York Stony Brook Football. She has also provided coverage for collegiate club hockey and high school football giving her additional experience across many levels of athletic performance.
Outside of work, Dr. Richardson enjoys spending time with her wife and two sons. She can be found hiking and biking with her family, grilling, and growing fresh vegetables in her hydroponic tower garden in her free time. She also has a special interest for cast iron cooking and pizza making. She stays active with Cross-Fit as it has a similar team mentality that reminds her of her days of team sports with basketball, soccer, and rugby in high school and college.
