Chris Thompson has been in Northern Virginia for the majority of her life. She attended University of Mary Washington where she received a BS in Biology in 1983. She completed her post graduate study in physical therapy at the University of Maryland ES in 1988.
Her interest in physical therapy started when she attended high school in Manassas. Chris has always enjoyed sports and was on the basketball and track team in high school. At that time she knew that she wanted to work in a sports related field. She worked in an orthopedic out patient physical therapy office as an aide where her real desire to become a physical therapist flourished. Throughout her college and post college free time she worked as a referee for basketball, soccer, volleyball as well as coached U-16 boys soccer and taught swim classes for water babies through adults. She has also worked as an athletic trainer at Lifetime Fitness and has an interest in developing sports specific training programs.
The majority of her career has been spent working with children with both orthopedic and neurologic injuries. Over the course of 22 years she has worked for INOVA Fairfax Hospital, INOVA VNA Home Health, and Physiotherapy Associates before coming to OrthoVirginia. She has a Pediatric NDT Certification and continuing education training for craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, and joint mobilization.
In her free time she enjoys running, skiing, rock climbing, and weight training.
