We are all looking forward to watching the Super Bowl, but game day food is equally if not more important than the match up itself. You may not be able to count on your team bringing home the Lombardy trophy, but you can be 100% sure delicious snacks will be consumed.

Now, imagine biting into a classic Super Bowl dish only to find out that it’s healthy. Impossible, right?

We’ve searched far and wide to gather a few healthy alternatives for you to try out during this year’s big game. Not only do these recipes taste good, but they’ll leave you feeling good about your game day food choices too, making that post-Super Bowl Monday a little less sluggish.

Healthy Super Bowl Snack Recipes

Buffalo Cauliflower Wings

Ingredients

  • 1 head of cauliflower cut into florets
  • 3/4 cup of buttermilk
  • 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar
  • 3/4 cup of flour
  • 1 tsp of garlic powder
  • 1 tsp of smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp of onion powder
  • Black pepper
  • 1/3 cup of buffalo sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of melted unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to preheat at 375°F.
  2. Place parchment paper on two baking sheets.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, flour, black pepper, and buttermilk together. This mixture should have a thick consistency.
  4. Coat the cauliflower florets in the batter you just made and place them on the baking sheets. Make sure to leave room in between each piece of cauliflower so they can cook evenly.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes. Then, flip each cauliflower and bake again for 20 minutes.
  6. While your cauliflower is in the oven, prepare the buffalo sauce. Mix the buffalo sauce with the butter and whisk well.
  7. After your cauliflower is baked to perfection, dump them into the buffalo sauce bowl. Make sure each cauliflower is hit with ample amounts of buffalo sauce.
  8. Eat and enjoy!

Zucchini Tater Tots

Ingredients

  • 3 medium sized zucchinis
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar
  • 1/2 of grated parmesan
  • 1 tsp of dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp of garlic powder
  • Salt
  • Black pepper

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to preheat at 400°F.
  2. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.
  3. Grate your zucchini into strands.
  4. Placing your zucchini into a paper towel, squeeze any excess liquid out of the zucchini strands.
  5. In a large bowl, crack your two eggs and lightly beat them.
  6. Then, add the zucchini, cheddar, parmesan, oregano, garlic powder, and a dash of salt and pepper to the large bowl. Mix these ingredients together well.
  7. Take a spoon and scoop out about 1 tablespoon worth of the mixture. Roll this tablespoon into a tater tot shape and place onto the baking sheet.
  8. Bake your tots for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Eat and enjoy!

Keto Taco Cups

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of shredded cheddar
  • 1 tbsp of extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 small chopped onion
  • 3 cloves of minced garlic
  • 1 lb of ground beef
  • 1 tsp of chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp of ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp of smoked paprika
  • Salt
  • Black paper

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to preheat at 375°F.
  2. Place parchment paper on a large baking sheet.
  3. With a spoon, scoop out about 2 tablespoons worth of cheddar and place onto the parchment paper. Repeat for the remaining amounts of cheddar. Be sure to place each scoop several inches apart.
  4. Bake these cheddar scoops for about 6 minutes or until the edges start to golden.
  5. Take cheddar out of oven and let cool for a minute.
  6. While the cheddar slices are cooling, grease a muffin tin with cooking spray.
  7. This part can be tricky. Carefully pick up your cheddar slices and place them into the muffin tin.
  8. Using your hands, mold the cheese around the muffin tin, forming a shell.
  9. Place a large skillet over medium heat.
  10. Add in your chopped onion pieces and cook them until they are soft (about 5 minutes).
  11. Add in the minced garlic cloves and ground beef. Break up the beef with a spatula and cook until there is no pink left in the beef (about 6 minutes).
  12. Drain the excess grease from the skillet.
  13. Season the beef with chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  14. Place your cheese cups onto a serving platter and fill them with the cooked ground beef.
  15. If desired, add more toppings such as sour cream, avocado, salsa, etc.
  16. Eat and enjoy!
