Kwadwo Owusu-Akyaw, MD
Dr. Kwadwo Owusu-Akyaw specializes in knee and shoulder surgery and sports medicine. The impactful nature of sports -- creating opportunity, uplifting communities, creating a platform to promote change -- drew him to sports medicine. As athletes strive to achieve their goals and push their limits, it is his privilege to serve them in their time of need. When any athlete suffers an injury, they deserve to receive a compassionate and team-based approach to returning them to sport, and he is a part of that team. Outside of work he enjoys growing together with his family and playing jazz and hip-hop saxophone.
Dr. Owusu-Akyaw has extensive experience in high level sports medicine care. He has previously served as part of the medical team for North Carolina Central University, Duke University and Iona College Athletics. Additionally he has served as an assistant physician to the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He serves on the Editorial Board for Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery , which is one of the pre-eminent Academic Sports Journals.
