The first treatment for claw toe and hammertoe is to get shoes with a large area for the toes, so that the shoes won't put pressure on the toes. The toe area of the shoes may need to be taller than usual since the toes aren't flat.

You may use splints, braces, and padding to help keep your toes from rubbing against your shoes and to encourage them to straighten.

If the non-surgical treatments don't provide enough relief, you may need surgery such as hammertoe repairs.
