Bursitis/impingement surgery

Bursitis is the inflammation of small cushions found throughout the body, including in the shoulder. Impingement is when a joint can't move smoothly because part of the joint is getting in the way of another part of the joint. Impingement can lead to bursitis in the shoulder, and a surgery can correct these issues.

Surgery for shoulder bursitis and impingement involves removing some tissue and bone so that there is more space in the joint for everything to move.

The surgery can often be done using minimally invasive techniques, so you’ll have smaller incisions that heal faster.

After surgery you may have restrictions on the activities you do, and you’ll have physical therapy to regain strength and range of motion in your shoulder.
