New Patient

Please follow these instructions to have a successful first in-person visit at OrthoVirginia.

  • Choose one way to fill out forms:
    • Sign up for the MyChart patient portal and fill out forms online. To sign up for MyChart, visit orthovirginia.com/mychart. OR
    • Arrive 20 minutes early for your appointment.
  • Bring your insurance card, ID, and a list of any medications you are currently taking.
  • Face masks are required for all appointments and must be worn at all times. Masks with pop-off valves are not acceptable as this mask allows exhaled air to escape unfiltered to those around the wearer. If you arrive at our office with a pop-off valve mask, you will be offered a paper mask to cover your mask or replace your mask with the paper mask.
  • Patients under age 18 must have a parent or guardian with them.
  • Due to COVID-19, only minor patients, patients with limited mobility, or those with extenuating circumstances may have guests at clinic appointments. Guests are limited to one per patient.
  • A late fee will be charged for appointments cancelled less than 24 hours before the scheduled time unless you are canceling due to the flu or flu-like symptoms.
  • Call to reschedule your appointment if you have the flu or flu-like symptoms. You will not be charged for the missed visit. 

New Therapy Patient

Please follow the instructions and reminders below to make sure you have a positive first therapy visit.

  • Choose one way to fill out forms:
    • Sign up for the MyChart patient portal and fill out forms online. To sign up for MyChart, visit orthovirginia.com/mychart. OR
    • Arrive 20 minutes early for your appointment.
  • Call the number on the back of your insurance card to confirm therapy benefits and copays before your first appointment.
  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows the therapist access to the body part that is hurt.
  • Bring any splint, brace, or similar assistive device with you.
  • Bring your insurance card, ID, and a list of any medications you are currently taking.
  • Surgical face masks are required for all therapy appointments and must be worn at all times. Therapists and patients must be near each other for a long period of time and cannot follow social distancing guidelines, so extra protection from surgical masks is required. If you don’t have a surgical mask, we will provide one.

MRI

  • Limit the amount of metal in your clothes.
  • Eat, drink, and take medications as usual.
  • Bring your insurance card, ID, and a list of any medications you are currently taking.

Bone Density Scan

Please follow the instructions and reminders below to make sure you have a successful bone density scan.

  • Arrive 15 minutes before your appointment.

  • Stop taking your calcium supplement 24 hours before your appointment.
  • Other than the calcium supplement, you can eat, drink and take your usual medications.
  • Do not wear any jewelry.
