Vascularized free fibular grafting

Vascularized free fibular grafting is a technique to treat avascular necrosis (osteonecrosis) of the hip. In this technique, bone grafts are taken from another bone and put into place in the hip.

Unlike some other bone grafts, these vascularized bone grafts still have blood vessels attached. Having blood vessels attached already instead of having to grow new blood vessels means that this type of bone graft is more successful.
