Other than the name change, Sideline’s day-to-day clinical and surgical operations will not change. The physicians and team members will continue to provide the same excellent care for our patients at the existing location. Sideline and OrthoVirginia believe this will enhance our ability to deliver the highest quality, affordable healthcare to the communities we serve.

This transaction is good news for everyone involved, especially for patients:

• As a broad network of specialists, OrthoVirginia is committed to improve quality, safety, positive outcomes, and cost for patients.
• As a large medical group, we’ll be better positioned to invest in and implement state-of-the-art technology to enhance care.
• We will remain an independent physician practice, which means that physicians will be in control of our patients’ medical care.
• A new physician, Dr. Anita Vijapura, a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist, will be joining OrthoVirginia at our Christiansburg location beginning on February 1, 2021.

Current Sideline Patients

No action is required by you at this time if you wish to continue being treated by your current physician. While your medical records will be technically transferred to OrthoVirginia when the merger is effective, they will continue to be located at the same office as they are now.

If you wish to pursue your care outside of Sideline Orthopedics or OrthoVirginia, you may have your records transferred to another practice. Pursuant to Virginia Code § 32.1-127.1:03, upon receipt of written authorization, we will arrange to transfer your patient records to you or a designated provider within a reasonable timeframe, and for a copying charge of $20 plus $5 for the transfer of X-ray records, if applicable if records transferred after February 1, 2021.

Patient Portal

• Current Sideline patients may sign up for the OrthoVirginia patient portal, MyChart, starting January 17, 2021. Visit the MyChart information page for more details about the portal and the link to sign up.
• As of February 1, 2021 patients will no longer have access to Sideline’s current patient portal.
• Patient information from Sideline’s patient portal will not transfer over to MyChart.
• Current Sideline patients will be unable to message a provider through MyChart until they have been seen at OrthoVirginia.
