Dr. Yi Cao chose spine surgery because of its complexity and the profound impact it can have on patients’ quality of life. Spine surgery requires a personalized relationship with every patient. He finds satisfaction when patients report improvement in their function and function when the correct diagnosis was made, and the best treatment was provided through a joint decision-making and holistic process. Many spinal conditions can be treated with non-surgical methodologies. Dr. Cao values the importance of a conservative approach and will only offer the safest and least invasive surgical option, with surgery being the last resort.

In his free time, Dr. Cao likes spending time with his wife, two children and lab retriever. He likes playing volleyball, skiing, hockey and pickleball. As a family, they love to travel and enjoy different international cuisines.
