Dr. Nicholas Erdle is an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon. He chose orthopedic surgery, specifically sports medicine, based on interactions and relationships he developed with orthopedic providers as a high school athlete here in Richmond. Through ongoing training and research, he cultivated a deeper interest in identifying surgical and non-surgical interventions to help patients return to peak performance while considering their short-term and long-term goals and passions. After practicing as a general orthopedic surgeon with the U.S. Navy – performing procedures such as labral repair, rotator cuff repair, ACL reconstruction, and meniscal repair in Europe, Asia, and on both the East and West Coasts – Dr. Erdle decided to further subspecialize in sports medicine, focusing on knee and shoulder surgery, to continue providing comprehensive care for athletes of all ages with complex conditions.
In his free time, Dr. Erdle enjoys travelling with his wife and daughters and spending time outdoors, whether it’s skiing, surfing, hunting, fishing, playing golf, or running.
