Dr. McGroarty is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery. He was drawn to orthopedics because of the field’s ability to make an immediate and lasting difference in a patient’s mobility, independence, and quality of life. Dr. McGroarty gravitated toward foot and ankle surgery because it blends complex biomechanics with precise surgical techniques, addressing issues that affect every step a person takes —whether they’re dealing with an injury, arthritis, or deformity. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Duke and foot and ankle Fellowship at OrthoCarolina under the mentorship of some of the most respected leaders in foot and ankle surgery, which shaped his approach and pushed him to always strive for the highest standard of care.
Dr. McGroarty enjoys the process of compressive care from diagnosis to treatment, tailored to each individual—whether it’s getting an athlete back on the field or helping someone walk comfortably again. His main objective is all about making a real, lasting difference in how people live their lives. As a Richmond native, Dr. McGroarty is honored to have returned home to serve his community.
In his free time, Dr. McGroarty enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, kayaking, and spending time outdoors.
