Specialties

OrthoVirginia Offices

Dr. Gilbert is a board-certified rheumatologist. Her initial interest in rheumatology stemmed from her time at the University of Mississippi’s basic science research laboratory of Dr. Michael J. Ryan where the team investigated mechanisms of hypertension utilizing a mouse model of systemic lupus erythematosus. As a resident in internal medicine, some of Dr. Gilbert’s most valuable patient experiences occurred during rheumatology rotations, which cemented her decision to pursue rheumatology. Rheumatology combines complex clinical cases with basic science through immunology. In her free time, Dr. Gilbert enjoys the beach, riding her bike, cooking/baking, learning new languages, and drawing among many other activities.
