Bio

Born in New York City, Dr. Daniel Weingold became interested in the health care field at a young age as he watched his father practice medicine. Dr. Weingold attended the Landon School in Bethesda, Maryland, and then went on to earn an undergraduate degree at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He completed his medical degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and finished his surgical internship and orthopedic residency training at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, DC.

Dr. Weingold benefited from his experiences working as a nursing assistant at the George Washington University Medical Center Emergency Room during his college summer vacations. With a desire to help people of all ages recover from a wide variety of conditions, he feels it is important to individualize his treatment approach for each patient. He considers non-operative and operative approaches to each problem and if surgery is necessary, he recommends a broad range of arthroscopic and reconstructive procedures to get patients back to a functional and comfortable level. Having been through his own ACL reconstruction and lumbar disc surgery, he has experienced injury, surgery, and recovery from the patient’s perspective and feels like he can relate well to his patients.

Dr. Weingold has extensive experience performing various shoulder surgeries and also performs other surgical procedures for joint replacement, knee and shoulder related sports injuries, fractures and other general orthopedic conditions. In addition to being clinically well-rounded, Dr. Weingold is also fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Weingold served as the Chief of Orthopaedics and was on the Operating Room Committee at at Inova Alexandria Hospital and is currently on the Quality Management Committee at OrthoVirginia. In a role that complements his interest in sports medicine, Dr. Weingold serves as team physician for the Robert E. Lee High School football team and provides sports physicals as well. He also participates in the Inova Health System “Learn from the Experts” free community seminars.

Dr. Weingold and his wife, Barbara, a retired ER nurse, have three young children—a boy and two girls. In their free time, the Weingolds enjoy playing tennis, swimming, and spending time together as a family.
