Employee Benefits Overview

OrthoVirginia provides excellent medical, dental, and vision benefits, paid time off (PTO), a generous 401k incentive plan, short-term and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, and a company-wide wellness program.

Benefits

A PPO plan (with optional FSA) and an HDHP plan with HSA are both available. In-network preventive care is covered at 100% with no deductible for both plans. The primary difference between the plans is how you pay for your health care expenses, so the plan options will have different premiums, deductibles and out-of-pocket maximum limits.

When you enroll in one of the medical plans, you automatically receive prescription drug coverage. When you fill your prescription at a retail pharmacy in your plan’s network, you may purchase up to a 30-day supply of the prescribed medication. You may also use a 90-day retail pharmacy in your plan’s network or MaxorPlus Delivery.

A Health Saving Account (HSA) is a way for you to save pretax dollars that can be used to pay for qualified health care expenses like deductibles, copays, coinsurance, prescriptions and vision and dental expenses. OrthoVirginia makes a quarterly contribution to help offset the cost of the deductible associated with the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) option.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) allow you to set aside pretax dollars from each paycheck to pay for out-of-pocket health care and dependent care expenses. Because the money put into these accounts is not considered taxable, employees save by paying less federal, state and FICA taxes. Depending on personal circumstances, these plans can mean a savings of 10% to 35%!

OrthoVirginia offers three different dental plans through Delta Dental. Our Basic Plan allows you to see a provider that participates in Delta’s PPO provider network at lower contracted costs. You can also opt to select a different level of coverage that includes other network options through the Standard or Enhanced Plans.

EyeMed vision plan provides coverage for services like annual eye exams, glasses, frames, lenses and contact lenses. Services like laser vision correction (Lasik or PRK) are available at discounted prices.

Paid Time Off (PTO) can be used for vacation, illness, personal appointments, family time or other needs. Full-time employees start accruing PTO on day one, with additional time earned as your years of service grow. With their manager’s approval, new team members can begin using PTO right away. Plus, up to 200 hours of unused PTO can be carried over into the next calendar year.

Full-time employees receive paid time off for 8 company-observed holidays each year, along with select early closing dates. The time off for these holidays does not count against the employee’s personal PTO. If you’re a full-time employee scheduled to work on a company holiday, you’ll receive time-and-a-half pay for your shift (non-exempt) or a floating holiday to use later (exempt).

In addition to the eight paid company holidays, each full-time employee receives a floating holiday to use when it suits you best.

Examples of Company Paid Holidays

  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day & the Friday after
  • Christmas Day
  • New Year’s Day
  • +1 Floating Holiday day per year

OrthoVirginia automatically enrolls all employees over 21 into the 401(k) at 3% of your compensation. You can adjust, pause, or opt out of contributions at any time to fit your personal and financial goals. After working 1,000 hours in a plan year, OrthoVirginia contributes to your 401(k).

Life Insurance (employer-paid) and Voluntary Life Insurance (employee-paid) provides financial support in the untimely passing of a covered participant.

OrthoVirginia provides Short and Long Term Disability Insurance for benefit eligible employees at no additional cost to the individual. Short and Long Term Disability Insurance provides partial income replacement in the event of a covered illness or accident that occurs outside of work. Physicians and Physician-based positions should refer to the Human Resources Team for eligibility details.

OrthoVirginia offers voluntary plans which are paid for with post-tax deductions from each paycheck.

  • Accident Insurance provides you with payment for a wide variety of accidental injuries. Payments are made directly to you to use as you see fit.
  • Critical Illness provides a cash benefit when a covered person is diagnosed with a covered critical illness.
  • Hospital Indemnity pays you a cash benefit to help with you with unexpected expenses and medical bills if you or a covered family member is admitted to the hospital.

Available to employees who are covered in OrthoVirginia’s medical plans, Carrot offers a benefit for employees who want options for pursuing parenthood or need support in hormonal health. Participants in the program can access services and research options and may receive member support from a dedicated Care Navigation Manager, who will assist them through their journey.

Our no cost, confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through Anthem provides up to 4 face-to-face or virtual visits with a licensed counselor.

Just need guidance? You can also access financial and legal resources, family and community support and much more. All services are completely confidential and at no cost to you.
