On Saturday, July 8, 2023, OrthoVirginia hosted the OrthoVirginia Sports Medicine Symposium 2023: Fútbol to Football. The event was a multidisciplinary conference that brought together experts in the fields of sports medicine, emergency medicine, athletic training, sports science and physical therapy for a one-day event at the OrthoVirginia Training Center at Commanders Park in Ashburn, Virginia.

The second overall year of the symposium and the first time it was able to be held in person, the conference featured 100 attendees and over 30 speakers across a variety of disciplines. OrthoVirginia physicians and physical therapists provided the majority of the speakers, serving as subject-matter experts for the other medical professionals attending. Topics included head injury assessment, on-field emergencies, spine injuries, treatments for several types of knee problems, return to sport problems, treatments for shoulder problems, and a tour of the OrthoVirginia Training Center at Commanders Park.

The conference gave attendees CME credits, or part of the official system of continuing education that medical professionals are required to do annually.

Thank you to all of the speakers and attendees, and we look forward to seeing you at next year’s event!
