Dr. David Miller’s Background

A native of Hopewell, Virginia, Dr. David Miller graduated from Hopewell High School and attended the University of Richmond, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. After college, he attended Georgetown University and received a Master in Science in Human Physiology.

Dr. Miller then accepted an Army scholarship, attending The Georgetown School of Medicine before heading to Hawaii to do his Internship at Tripler Army Medical Center.

He returned to Washington, DC to do his orthopadic surgery residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where he was the Chief of the Adult Reconstructive Service. Dr. Miller then completed a Fellowship at Queens Medical Center in Nottingham, England. In 1999, he returned to Richmond, Virginia as partner at West End Orthopaedic Clinic, now OrthoVirginia.

Dr. Miller was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Virginia National Guard and a decorated Army veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star and Air Medal for his service as a flight surgeon during Operation Desert Storm. He has dedicated his career, both civilian and military, to providing expert orthopedic care.

Dr. David Miller specializes in hip replacement and knee replacement, including Direct Anterior Hip Replacement, the Get Around Knee Replacement, Custom Fit Knee Replacement, Partial Knee Replacement, and Revision Joint Surgery.

Julia M. Saddington, PA-C
Julia considers herself an almost-native of Richmond, growing up in Chesterfield County from the age of 4. After graduating from Meadowbrook High School, Julia attended Wake Forest University, graduating in 1992 with a dual major in Exercise and Sports Science and Spanish. After completing her Masters in Exercise Physiology at the University of South Carolina, she was employed locally as an athletic trainer and worked with the Richmond Ballet. In 1997, she decided to pursue being a Physician Assistant and attended Wake Forest University School of Medicine, graduating with a Certificate in Physician Assistant Studies in August 1999. She has practiced in orthopedic surgery ever since. She has been with Dr. Miller since June 2004 and loves working with him to care for patients. She assists Dr. Miller in the office, operating room and hospital.

Jennifer Mischke, Clinical Assistant
Jennifer has worked at OrthoVirginia for 4 years and has been Dr. Miller’s clinical assistant for the past 1 ½ years. She is originally from Long Island, New York and is an avid softball player. She is responsible for all clinical duties and filling out disability paperwork.

Jennifer Hamer, Medical Secretary
Jennifer has been employed by OrthoVirginia since the fall of 2012.  She is originally from New Jersey and graduated from East Carolina University in May of 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Services management.  Jennifer assists in clinic as needed, and is responsible for all things related to scheduling surgery with Dr. Miller.
