Resuming surgery after COVID-19

No one could possibly have imagined the events that have taken place in the last several months both in Virginia and around the world.  The changes to work and everyday life have been unprecedented.

Due to the novel viral illness sweeping the country Governor Northam announced a cessation of elective surgical procedures for the month of April. Fortunately, the impact of COVID-19 on Virginia and the rest of the country has been much less than the initial models indicated. Our hospitals in Virginia were not overwhelmed and Virginians all did their part to “flatten the curve”. We are all very thankful that the worst predictions did not become reality. Recently Governor Northam has announced the resumption of elective surgery in the state and our team here at OrthoVirginia stand ready to safely begin meeting the orthopedic needs of our patients. Our clinic schedules are back to normal although we are still practicing safe procedures such as social distancing and providing masks to patients while in our office. We have fully resumed normal surgery schedules and look forward to taking care of our patients who require surgical treatment. We would like to thank our patients for being so understanding during this unprecedented situation. We look forward to serving you in a full capacity once again.
