OrthoWellness – for your pain relief opportunities
OrthoWellness was established in the summer of 2012 with our patients in mind for ongoing support with managing chronic pain or muscle weakness often associated with arthritis, myofascial pain and/or fibromyalgia. Our certified massage therapists have had extensive training in Deep Tissue Massage as well as Acupressure Technique and Swedish massage. With their knowledgeable background and education, they are able to assess the client’s needs and establish the best approach to accomplish the anticipated goals.
Myofascial release technique (MFR) is a therapeutic bodywork practice with individualized client-based goals including relief from acute and chronic pain. MFR focuses on releasing the tight “stuck” areas in the body tissue otherwise known as fascial restrictions, which are often the main contributor or source of symptoms including pain, decreased restriction and mobility. It is a very effective hands-on technique that provides sustained pressure on the myofascial restriction to eliminate pain and restore motion.
The therapy of MFR requires an understanding of the fascial system or connective tissue. The fascia is a specialized system of the body that has an appearance similar to a spider’s web or a sweater. Fascia is a very densely woven covering and interpenetrating every muscle, bone, artery and vein as well as all of your internal organs including heart, lungs, brain and spinal cord. The most interesting aspect of the fascial system is that it is really one structure that exists from head to toe without interruption. In this way you can begin to see that each part of your entire body is connected to every other part of the fascia, much like yarn is intertwined in a sweater.
Pain can be caused by trauma, overuse, genetics and stress. Massage is a manual and mechanical manipulation of soft tissue for therapeutic purposes. It improves joint mobility, blood circulation, and lymphatic drainage assisting with relief for the patient.
MFR cannot be accomplished in a single visit, but rather over several consecutive sessions. Progress is made at each visit and each visit builds on the last sustaining longer time intervals of reduced pain and increased mobility. Let OrthoWellness’ certified massage therapists help you with your pain and improved mobility and function.
