Dr. Ben Kittredge specializes in knee and shoulder surgery and has special interest in treating ACL tears, and shoulder injuries, shoulder arthritis and proximal hamstring ruptures. Dr. Kittredge especially enjoys using his skills as an orthopedist to help athletes get back into their game. He is one of the team physicians for Loudoun United. In his free time, he takes his children to activities and enjoys long-distance running, including running several marathons.

Bio

As an athlete himself, Dr. Ben Kittredge always had a desire to pursue a career that would allow him to care for and interact with a sports-minded population. After earning an undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and a Masters degree in Physiology from Georgetown University, Dr. Kittredge returned to the University of Virginia to attain his medical degree. He then completed a general surgery internship at Roanoke Memorial Hospital and an orthopedic residency at the University of Virginia. Additionally, Dr. Kittredge completed a fellowship in sports medicine at Jefferson Medical College and Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. While there, he nurtured his interest in sports by serving as assistant team physician for the Philadelphia Eagles, Flyers, and Phillies.

Dr. Kittredge especially enjoys using his skills as an orthopedist to help athletes get back into their game. As one who always encourages his patients to remain active, he finds great satisfaction in seeing someone he has treated running alongside him at a marathon or local road race or playing on the tennis court across from him. As a runner, Dr. Kittredge has a special interest in treating running and triathlon injuries, as well as caring for all knee, shoulder, and sports injuries. His surgical specialties include ACL reconstruction and arthroscopic shoulder stabilization.

Active in a number of professional medical roles, Dr. Kittredge is the former Chief of Orthopaedics at Inova Alexandria Hospital and Chair of the Medical Records Committee at Inova Alexandria Hospital. In addition to treating amateur and professional athletes, he is also involved in student athletics within the community where he serves as team physician for St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes, and Episcopal High School.

Dr. Kittredge and his wife Jacquelyn, a teacher, have three boys: Charlie, Drew, and Harry. In his spare time, Dr. Kittredge ferries his children to USTA tournaments and enjoys long distance running. He has run several marathons including Marine Corps, New York, Philadelphia, Houston, Chicago and Boston.
