Pre-operative instructions for Boulders Ambulatory Surgery Center

  1. The Boulders Ambulatory Surgery Center is located on the 2nd floor above the Main Office at OrthoVirginia at the address provided above.
  2. A nurse will contact you to review your medical history and pre-operative instructions and any financial arrangements. If no one has contacted you 2 days prior to surgery please call 804-672-4040 between 8:30 am – 5:00 pm.
  3. Do not have anything to eat or drink after midnight the evening prior to surgery. You may take your heart or blood pressure medication the morning of surgery with a small sip of water.
  4. Arrange for someone to take you home following the surgery. Public transportation is not permitted after surgery.
  5. Do not take any aspirin products that include Aleve, Advil, or Ibuprofen one week prior to surgery. You may take Tylenol or medication prescribed by Dr. Hepper.
  6. Post-operative instructions will be given to you prior to being discharged from the hospital along with any prescriptions for medication and physical therapy.
  7. We will contact your insurance company for prior authorization for this procedure.

Pre-operative instructions for the Operatory

Entering the building, proceed to the elevator or stairs to the Right. Once on the 2nd floor exit to the right and the Operatory is Ahead.

  1. A registered nurse will contact you to go over your medical history and medications. She will advise you on which medications to take the morning before surgery and the ones to hold off taking. Also, she will let you know what time to arrive at the Operatory for your procedure.
  2. NOTHING to eat or drink after midnight the night prior to surgery. If you must take blood pressure/ heart medication prior to surgery, please take with a small sip of water.
  3. Arrange for someone to take you home following surgery. Public transportation is not permitted.
  4. Do not take any aspirin products that include Aleve, Advil, or Ibuprofen one week prior to surgery. You may take Tylenol or a prescription that Dr. Hepper provides.
  5. Post-operative instructions will be given to you prior to being discharged from the Operatory along with any prescriptions for medication and physical therapy if needed.

Pre-operative instructions for St. Mary’s Hospital

  1. Go to the main entrance at St. Mary’s Hospital (Bremo Road side) and report to Outpatient Registration on the left.
  2. At your pre-admission testing, you will discuss your medical history with a pre-op nurse and have any necessary pre-operative testing such as blood work and a EKG. You will report to the Reynolds Building located at 6900 Forest Ave, Suite 105. MOB II.
  3. Do not have anything to eat or drink after midnight the evening prior to surgery. You may take your heart or blood pressure medication the morning of surgery with a small sip of water.
  4. Arrange for someone to take you home following the surgery. Public transportation is not permitted.
