D. Andrew Parker, MD
Thanks to my care at OrthoVirginia, I can finally hike without pain again!
In 1973, at age 12, I hit a tree while tobogganing and broke my right femur. Back then, the doctors put me in traction for 6 weeks at the hospital so as not to have to pin the leg (I was still growing). I was told that the injury may result in problems with my joints later in life. Sure enough...I hit age 40 and suffered from chronic pain in my right hip. Eventually, I stopped playing golf and had to finally stop hiking (my favorite activity with my husband) due to the constant stabbing pain in my hip joint. My family physician referred me to Dr. Parker to seek relief. Dr. Parker was extremely positive about the relief that he could bring to my hip and we scheduled the repair to my torn labrum. Within 9 months, I was hiking at the Arches National Park. I bought a FitBit to track my steps and just surpassed the "Great Wall of China" mark--5,500 miles in the two years I've been wearing it! Thank you Dr. Parker and the Team at OrthoVirginia! I only wish I had found you sooner!
