Thanks to my care at OrthoVirginia, I can run again! In this picture, I have just won a trail half marathon. This picture was taken almost exactly a year after I broke my foot!
When I broke my foot last November, I felt like my life was over. The idea of not being able to run (or, let's face it, walk) for months was terrifying. I was so afraid that this injury would end my running career and I was worried about permanent damage. Luckily, I had a doctor and a physical therapist who were supportive and committed to getting me back on my feet (and, I must add, so very patient with me). After a couple months on crutches, a month in a boot, and a couple more months of PT, I was cleared to run my first mile.
Fast forward to November of this year--almost a year to the day that I broke my foot--and I won my first trail half marathon. I have won or placed top three in every race I have entered since that first post-PT mile.
