Charles S. Lefton, MD - Retired
My story is a bit different from others since I required no surgery. Dr. Lefton confirmed that my meniscus was torn in my right knee after reviewing my MRI. He mentally prepared me for knee surgery but indicated I could wait if I wanted to see what happens. He gave me a shot of cortisone and told me to take it easy. I quit playing tennis for an entire summer and began playing with a brace after three months of rest. My knee did not hurt but I wore the brace for precautionary purposes. It is now about 8 years later and I don't even need my brace anymore. I really appreciate Dr. Lefton's advice to wait before scheduling surgery and for giving me that "miracle" shot!
