Mark C. Hartley, MD
Thanks to my care at OrthoVirginia, I can do all the things I was used to doing before my knees became unbearably painful. I was able to walk the beach, on any kind of sand, play in the waves, and even go boogie boarding with my grandchildren! Prior to the beach, we took 4 grandchildren to Baltimore to tour the ships in the Inner Harbor and the National Aquarium.....a lot of walking and climbing and it was absolutely NO problem. I have been able to return to a regular schedule of going to the gym with my husband and we leave very soon for a 2 week trip to England! I have been given a great gift in that my life has returned to normal which is something I never thought possible. Surgery #1 went so well and I was so impressed with the team at OrthoVirginia and at Reston Hospital Center that I was able to schedule surgery #2 at one of my first post op appointments. I have no words to describe the care and professionalism and encouragement that Dr. Hartley's team display as you go through this process. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
I had met so many people who regretted waiting for one to two years or more before doing knee number two that I vowed I would not make that mistake. It was the best decision I ever made. My physical therapist prepared me well for both surgeries and made the time spent afterward count for both knees. It was truly remarkable. I am 5 months out on knee #1 and about 4 months out on knee # 2 and there is really nothing I can't do.
