B. Thomas Mazahery, MD
A tremendous thanks to my care at Othro Virginia, I’m back to a normal everyday life again! March of this year 2016 I had intents sciatica nerve pain going down my left leg, unable to stand longer than five minutes or walk longer than 10 feet without sitting down. After going through all the normal procedures of facet joint injections, epidural injections and physical therapy I decided to go with back surgery.
After looking through the hospitals and doctors in the area I decided on Ortho Virginia and Dr. Thomas Mazahery. My procedure was a lumbar laminectomy, medial facetectomies and L4-L5 and L5-S1, posterior fusion at L4-L5, transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion at L4-L5, placement of interbody spacer at L4-L5.
The surgery was on August 10, 2016, Dr. Thomas Mazahery and his team from Reston Hospital were fantastic. I woke up 3 or 4 hours later no pain in my left leg walked out the hospital two days later. After three months I was running and playing golf again in November 2016.
A truly special thanks to Dr. Thomas Mazahery, Reston OrthoVirginia Staff, Nurse Leader Nancy Susco staff and Reston Hospital Staff.
