D. Andrew Parker, MD
Thanks to my care at OrthoVirginia, I can compete in elite distance running again!
I was coming off of running the Berlin Marathon in 2:26 and finishing 14th in the LA Marathon when my right hip flexor and groin started developing symptoms of FAI. As a competitive runner and 30 year old Olympic Trials hopeful, I deliberated heavily over the prospect of surgery. My concerns were eased when I first met Dr. Parker. He and I worked together and confidently concluded the best course of action for me was arthroscopic FAI surgery of my right hip, and today I am very happy with the decision. I worked deligently in PT to give myself the best outcome from Dr. Parker's skilled work. And only 5 months later I ran the Boston Marathon wearing bib number 106 and raised money for charity. To my surprise I finished in 239th place out of 28,000 people in a time of 2:42! I feel like I am well on my way to competing at the same high level as I did before, with my dreams in sight once again, and I owe this great outcome and promising road ahead to Dr. Parker and OrthoVirginia! Thanks!
