Ronald C. Childs, MD
Thanks to my care at OrthoVirginia, I can walk, sit, and sleep without pain. Prior to surgery, I was apprehensive about walking 500 steps a day due to the pain that I experienced performing normal daily tasks. When experiencing back pain, nothing is truly enjoyable and a life of isolation becomes a choice as to not burden loved ones with the sight of physical deterioration and pain.
After surgery, physical therapy, and time to recover, I am enjoying and resuming an active life, being with family and friend, and chasing my grandchildren! I have set goal to walk 10,000 steps a day and to return to the active life style of dancing, hiking, and traveling that I once enjoyed. My only regret is that I waited so long to get this taken care of, but glad I picked an excellent team and doctor.
I also want to add that Suzanne Casana was an outstanding Physician Assistant, who provided excellent care and follow-up and Barbara Kapas, Certified Physical Therapist, expedited my recovery, improved my flexibility and balance! Great team of professionals who are caring and a pleasure to work with. They made me and my family feel like I was their only patient. Can't thank them enough and would provide them my highest recommendation!
My experience with Dr. Childs is better than outstanding! He has an excellent bedside manner and provided thorough explanations about procedures and recovery. He was very clear explaining my scoliosis, and the surgery to treat the herniated disc L2-S1 . He used X-rays to illustrate my condition and the treatment he recommended so I could see and understand what he was telling me. His sincere concern and confidence was the clincher for me and my wife to know that we finally found the surgeon that I needed!
