RICHMOND/HANOVER COUNTY, Virginia (January 16, 2014) – OrthoVirginia and Bon Secours Richmond Health System announced today that they will soon break ground for a $20 million, three-story, 63,490 sq. ft. medical facility specializing in orthopaedics and sports medicine treatment and rehabilitation. The facility is adjacent to the Memorial Regional Medical Center Campus and will provide an estimated 150 construction jobs in Hanover County.

This initiative brings together highly skilled talents of leading orthopaedic specialists in sports, hand, knee and hip, spine, pediatrics and sports medicine into one technologically innovative building. The team of physicians and administrators at OrthoVirginia recognized the opportunity to provide a regional resource for focused orthopaedic diagnostics, repair, and rehab that complements central Virginia’s highest standards for specialty healthcare, with greater cost efficiency and a more convenient central location for the community and patients.

The Lingerfelt Companies have been selected to develop this regional, state-of-the-art, technologically advanced medical facility. The company will seek LEED® certification for this project’s green building design and operation. Completion is scheduled for December, 2014.

“We’re very excited about this new state-of-the-art facility that offers the community and the region an extraordinary resource for orthopaedic specialties and rehabilitation services, allowing patients to be conveniently treated in one location,” stated OrthoVirginia administrator James Perkins. “Adding to our network of orthopaedic specialists, this comprehensive, fully digital facility will offer electronic patient files, physician records, and x-rays.”

The new three-story medical office building adds new space to OrthoVirginia’s network of orthopaedic specialists who occupy smaller space in Hanover, off the front lobby at St. Francis Hospital, Boulders Office Park, Parham/Henrico Doctor’s Hospital, and stand-alone medical buildings at Johnston-Willis Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital. Satellite offices are located in Prince George County, Kilmarnock, and Farmville.

Lingerfelt has selected architectural firm Price Studios, construction firm DPR Construction, and engineering firm Rummel, Klepper  &  Kahl as part of the team to work on this development project.
